Holiday! Celebrate! …and Ethan’s gift-raking-in fest has started!

Last day at work today and I could not be more ready for a few weeks off! We haven’t had any real holidays since Christmas, so well overdue. 6 months is a long time to not have any time off, especially if you are working the type of fast-paced, crazy environment I am working in. So today I wrapped up and handed over what needed to be done in my absence and just after 5pm I was gone like a pay check!

I met up with Ethan and Shaena in the park (the various parks of Edinburgh have fast become their second home, lately) where they were hanging out with Alyssa and Esme and we treated ourselves to a Wannaburger fiesta. Ethan has learned how to drink water with a straw now and was having his dinner at the same time as us. He is too adorable when he is sitting there with us, trying to be a part of the conversation whilst also keeping track of absolutely everything that is going on around him.

In the last few weeks Ethan has started receiving parcels and birthday cards in the post and deposits in his bank account from near and far. We already mentioned Auntie Nini’s first annual 'Birthday Party Box' full of awesomeness, Ethan-decorations and all the colorful sugary cake-stuff you'd ever need for a boy’s first birthday party. After that he got a stuffed crocodile toy all the way from Steve Irwin’ s ‘Australia Zoo’ brought back by our buddy Martin. The croc has recorded Steve Irwin-soundbites and says “Crikey!”, “Holy Guacamole!” and “Danger, danger, danger!” if squeezed. I want one of those! :)

The other day he also got a letter in the post, also from Auntie Nini, but this time sent from New York City. It was a really cool Hippo t-shirt from ‘The Met’ museum and today he got a letter from a mysterious sender named 'G.G Fortin'. Other than that, he has already received some very nice additions to his university-fund back in Canada and we believe there is another parcel on its way from our friend Sarah, also in Canada… and it is almost 3 weeks to the actual day! Our only problem now is to figure out what WE should get him! Suggestions, anyone? (If anyone says 'A crooked playhouse', I know Shaena has already spoken to you!)
