Poor Ethan fell face first in a puddle of mud today:

Fire!

Today, some of the fire stations in Stockholm county had opened their doors to the public and people could bring their kids and check out fire trucks and other emergency vehicles, try out fire equipment , learn more about fire safety and also check out displays where the fire department showcased how a typical fire callout could look like. Needless to say; Ethan was in seventh heaven!

Ethan's face and toe cloth

The expression “you learn something every day” is definitely a saying that holds true when you have kids, especially crazy and funny ones like Ethan! Nowadays when we ask him if we can wipe his face off with a cloth after a meal; he is only ok with that if we also wipe his toes off with the same cloth(!)

“Toes, toes!” he says and we’ll give his little toes a wipe down as well. Adorable and weird at the same time.

Ethan, you are “appom”!

Story time with Sammy L

Over these past couple of days our boys, and especially E, have been exceptionally stubborn around bedtime and they've had no desire to go to bed whatsoever and to illustrate just how frustrating this can be; we thought we'd share this bedtime story narrated by Samuel L. Jackson.

It's horrible really, but definitely something all of you parents out there can relate to and, whether you want to admit it or not, something you have thought more than once when putting your kids to sleep.

Nighty-night!

Mr. Huddy Bear

Little Hudson Eskil – now also in an awesome little bear costume! Aunty Isabel thought this furry little number would look good on her nephew… and man was she right! ;) Isabel has also kitted Huddy out with some pretty sweet rock gear such as a KISS onesie and a tiny little pilot leather jacket... stay tuned for that photoshoot.

Thank you Ethan...

...for your continued efforts to make the downstairs neighbours balcony and our backyard a brighter and more playful place by throwing random toys, books and balls down there when we are not watching. Thank you!

Visit to the Vasa Museum

The Vasa Museum is amazing. Absolutely astonishing what an imposing ship Vasa must have been, and for those 15 minutes she got to sail on her maiden voyage, she made us Swedes proud! Not to mention what an incredible feat to get her up from the bottom of the ocean in the 60’s and then preserve and restore the whole ship after 333 years!

I was 8 or 9 years old last time I visited the Vasa Museum and back then, the restoration was still not finished and the Vasa did not have any masts yet. But coming back 20 years later, it was almost a bit surreal as I can remember walking in to that main museum hall where Vasa is sitting in a dock, I can remember watching that same video presentation about the Vasa and the restoration project and I can remember having seen some of the surrounding exhibitions before; however my perception of the whole experience was (understandably) very different. I guess I am just older and wiser… probably mostly older.

Wikipedia:

Vasa (or Wasa) was a Swedish warship that was built from 1626 to 1628. The ship foundered and sank after sailing less than a nautical mile (ca 2 km) into its maiden voyage on 10 August 1628. It fell into obscurity after most of its valuable bronze cannons were salvaged in the 17th century. After it was located again in the late 1950s in a busy shipping lane just outside the Stockholm harbor, it was salvaged with a largely intact hull in 1961. It was housed in a temporary museum called Wasavarvet ("The Wasa Wharf") till 1987 and then moved to the Vasa Museum in Stockholm. The ship is one of Sweden's most popular tourist attractions and has been seen by over 29 million visitors since 1961.[2] Vasa has since its recovery become a widely recognized symbol of the Swedish "great power period". It is today also a de facto standard in the media and among Swedes for evaluating the historical importance of shipwrecks.

The Edinburgh Crew!

Another weekend jam-packed weekend filled with fun, fun, fun has come and gone but this one will definitely make our Billboard list of awesome weekends as well as the list for awesome visitors!

Sofia, Stuart and adorable little Isabel from Edinburgh graced us with a visit and we’ve managed to squeeze in everything from early-morning jumping-around-the-house sessions to awesome cooking and ‘wine sampling’, a play filled afternoon at the local playground, a Peter-tour around Stockholm, lunch at TGI Fridays and even a visit to one of Stockholm’s most well-known tourist attractions: the ‘Vasa Museum’.

Ethan and Isabel are almost the same age and spent their first year frequenting the baby groups of Edinburgh and now that they are both able to walk, run and babble, there’s absolutely no stopping them! Adorable to watch and the kids have had such a blast this weekend!

Thanks for the visit guys!
