Prep for Sweden 104: Recon trip to Sweden and Ethan’s first Swedish meatballs

Holidays are fast approaching and we are pulling our hair out, working through the night to make plans and figure out the logistics for our trip to the 'true north' in Sweden. Well, not really, but there is definitely some planning to be done. Not easy doing a multi-stop trip abroad and still bring as little bulky stuff as possible. This week I've tested the first leg of the trip, a cheap direct flight from Edinburgh to Stockholm with cheap-o air carrier ‘Norwegian’. Let me tell you, it was great! None of that Ryanair-crap where you are treated like cattle and forced to listen to commercials and sit uncomfortably the whole way! This was a very pleasant flight, much like a normal airline, and another bonus is that they are flying to Stockholm Arlanda instead of to some remote old airstrip on an abandoned field like Ryanair.

Anyway, I went to Sweden for business from Tuesday-Thursday to deliver workshops for a few of our clients and it all went really well so I am pleased with that. Another bonus with these short business trips to Sweden is that I always get to spend a bit of time with my brother John, which is really nice of course, and this time I also got to meet his lovely girlfriend. I have to say; Stockholm is a fantastic summer-city and the weather is usually amazing, and no exception during my couple of days there. It is also graduation-week in Stockholm so lots of young happy people on the streets. All good times!

Yesterday Ethan got to enjoy his first ever Swedish meatballs! Obviously, this is a giant leap for a little Swedish man, probably comparable with memorable milestones like ‘the first drive on your own after passing the driver’s test’ or ‘the first time you successfully got in to a nightclub with a fake ID’.

Speaking of Swedish; we are also currently preparing all the documentation we'll need to apply for a Swedish passport for Ethan whilst in Sweden. It will be perfect for him to have dual passports to complement his dual citizenship and will definitely make it easier to travel as we can then choose which passport to use when travelling within Europe and when going across the pond.

Speaking of Swedish again; tomorrow is Sweden day!!!

This is the aftermath and Ethan's reaction after his first meatballs:
