World – meet Hudson Eskil!

At 9:07am today Wednesday the 22nd of June after a very quick labour, our lovely little Hudson Eskil decided to show his face to the world! We are of course over the moon excited and very, very happy that everything went really well and that little Hudson is a healthy, alert little boy! This little trooper weighed in at 3920 grams (8.64lb) and measured 53 cm (20.8 inches).

Hudson made his appearance just in time for Great Grandma to get a chance to meet him before flying home to Canada tomorrow morning and Shaena and Hudson are now relaxing at the hospital hotel in their own room. For those of you who have followed this blog for awhile, you may recall that the exact same thing happened back in 2009 when Great Grandpa Jean Noel only just got to meet Ethan before flying home to Canada the next morning. Good timing boys!

Speaking of Ethan; he also got to meet his little brother for the first time this afternoon and he was, as expected, a little bit hesitant and didn't know what to make of the whole situation and could not really figure out why a little baby had suddenly appeared from nowhere. Not to worry though; we are 100% certain that Ethan will figure it out real soon and that he will be a fantastic big brother to Hudson!

We are so impressed with the care that we’ve been given by all the staff at the hospital, Danderyds Sjukhus, here in Stockholm and are very thankful for the thoughtfulness, helpfulness and professionalism that the midwives and nurses have shown us! Their professionalism and fantastic bedside manners made this otherwise nervous and stressful experience feel very much under control.

Since Ethan was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, we also have firsthand experience from both countries and I must say; the care over here beats the UK equivalent by miles! Such a difference!

  1. What a beautiful addition to your family. Welcome to the world wee Hudson. Well done Shaena. It sounds as if it all went quite smoothly but that doesn't take away from the major work you did there so just wanted to say I am proud of you and if you have any tips about giving birth to baby #2 please send them this way. :-) Congrats to you all! Ethan and Hudson, may you be the best of friends and chummiest of chums in the years to come. May you play so well together that you give both your parents those much needed breaks ;-) Love to you all, Alyssa, Alastair, Esmé and 32 wk bump a kickin' in mum's tum x
