Crisco N' Boots!

As you know, our nightly ritual once we've put the kidlets to bed is "Movie Club". Well we watched "The Help" recently and what a good movie, I'd recommend it to anyone at the moment. There is a part in the movie though where one of the characters discusses Crisco and how she uses it to make fried chicken. So I thought, hmmm, let's take a stab at this! Last night I got all the ingredients together in a paper bag, a bowl of egg & milk and chicken fillets. Mixed it all together and fried it in an inch full of crisco. Sweet mamma pie, the chicken was delicious! Almost a version of Kentucky Fried Chicken. This was definitely a one off in our house as this has to be the most unhealthy, fattiest dinner that I have ever cooked!

This character also mentioned using crisco on door hinges to get rid of a creak...so I did! Ha, and it worked too! No more creeping out of Ethan's room at night and having him wake to a noisy door! Now its smooth sneaking!

This week has been chalk full of lots to do too. Ethan is now officially inskoled at dagis so he is going 3 days a week for 6 hours a day. He's already made some friends and so have I! There is at least a handful of us families that have 2 kids, 2 years apart and all within a month or two of each other! So those days where we don't have the older kids at dagis, we can take turns and get together for a fika and let the little ones play! Hallelujah!

Part of the dagis requirements is that they have proper rain gear. This has been a battle and half for Ethan as he seems to be scared of the rubber boots! I went out and bought him a cute pair of black boots but low and behold, he was to have none of it! Even after a screaming fit he refused to put them on! Decision complete; return the boots. But what to do now? This kid is drawn to puddles and he loves to jump in them with his sneakers on...

So this is where I had the bright idea to buy him boots with McQueen on them! Ah ha! With a less of a fight, he finally decided to put them on!!! YIPPEEEEEEE! Now just to convince him to wear pants and we're sorted.
